Labor and Delivery

After my drs. appointment on Jan. 24th I was hopeful that baby Rachel would come soon but trying to not get my hopes up just in case she wanted to come late. On Jan. 26 Saturday at 7:30am I started to feel contractions. But it was normal for me since the last couple of weeks I would always get false ones. As the morning progressed I felt like this was the real thing. They started to hurt a little. Kyle had staff duty that morning so we decided that if my contractions didn't ease up after he checked into work then we would go to the hospital. 10:00 am when Kyle got back home from checking into staff duty I told him we should probably go to the hospital. We took our kids to the Sparks family right behind us who are such awesome neighbors and friends! We headed to the hospital and on the way I felt very nervous as I could tell Kyle was anxious to get there. There was a lot of traffic (Hawaii always has traffic) and we got there around 10:30 am. The dr. wanted to make sure I was in Active Labor so he checked me and I was 5 cm dialted and 75% effaced at a +2 station. Baby was still high up but would come down during labor. I got all checked in and waited. As time progressed I wanted to wait to have an epidural until I got really uncomfortable. Well as time went on I did start to feel uncomfortable and got an epidural but the epidural didn't work. I kept thinking it would kick in but it didn't. I had a very interesting dr who I can't even remember his name would check on me and he told me I was 4 cm dialted right before he broke my water at around 3 or 3:30pm. Can you really go from a 5 to 4 in active labor? (I was a little relieved when he ended up not being my delivery dr.) The nurse Kelly and I were really confused so right after he left she decided to check me and said I was definetly 6 cm dialated. By that point the pain was so unbearable they called the anathesioligist back to redue my epidural. He didn't quite believe that it wasn't working but trust me it was not working. It turned out I might as well have given birth without one. He gave me a spinal to work faster for me AND an epidural so that way I was covered. (turns out the epidural started to work after I gave birth 10 minutes later). Right after he gave me the spinal and epidural they checked me and I was fully dialated and ready to give birth. Kyle put on a drs. gown and gloves since they said he could help deliver her! 3 minutes of pushing and Kyle helped deliver baby Rachel! He got to cut the cord and they immediately put baby Rachel on my tummy. Wow! Labor and Delivery of all of my kids births are the best part. I don't prefer the pain but it still is one of my favorite parts of pregnancy. Nothings like holding your baby for the first time! She came out so perfect and it brought Kyle and I back to when Lexi was born because she looks EXACTLY like Lexi did!
Rachel Mary Kunz was born at 4:33 pm @ 7 lbs. 2 oz , 18.5 inches long with lots of brown/black hair!

Baby Rachels first bath!
Funny shirt the nurse put on baby Rachel.
All the children loved seeing Baby Rachel!
The adorable Liberty who now is not the baby of the family.
She loves baby though!
I love how Lexi's face is plastered to the babys crib! ha!
She sure loves Rachel!
It's hard to nurse baby when all 3 kids are
always wanting to see her! ha!
Lexi got to be the first sibling to feed baby Rachel.
I was discharged from the hospital at 10:30 pm on Jan. 27th!
I would've gone home at 4:30 but they wanted to see baby Rachel
poop before I left and so I had to wait until late at night. I just
wanted to be home with all my kiddos. We got home at around 11:30pm that night.
It felt so good to sleep in my own bed and to wake
up with all of our kids in the morning.
Baby Rachels all ready to go back to the hospital for her
2 day check up! When we left the hospital she weighed 6lbs 13oz and
when she went for her 2 day check-up she weight the exact same so
she kept a consistant weight for a day!
2 days old

Casey Adores his baby sister! He told us
the other day he wants a brother next! ha!
Lexi loves her little sister and is always
wanting to kiss and touch her toes!
 All 4 of our kids!

baby update

Well, no baby yet but it's only been 2 days since my last post but I thought I would update since I just
had a drs. appointment and I want to look back to this later in life. The dr. appointment went well. I'm dialated to a 3 and she stripped my membranes so hoping she'll come really soon. When I got my membranes stripped with Casey I had him the next day. With Liberty I had her 2 days later. Hoping this little gal will come in the next couple of days! Fingers crossed! I also lost 3 lbs at my appointment. Don't know if that's normal but I sure thought it was weird. Maybe there scale is off. I haven't always eaten dinner these last 3 weeks but that's because I get super naseus at night. Now i'm at a whooping 127 lbs. Maybe she'll be a 6 lb baby instead of a 7 or 8 lb baby!

Ready to Pop

Over 38 weeks and Ready to Pop! Lol!
At least that's what everyone in my ward told me Sunday!
Yes, I definetly feel like I'm going to pop but baby Rachel
wants to cook a little longer. The question is how long.
Oh, yes we're going to name her Rachel. I decided to let
Kyle name her since I didn't have a name that was my favorite and he got all
the kids to call her Rachel. Plus when Lexi rubs my tummy and says she loves
baby wachel it's just the cutest thing ever!
Now it's on to a middle name. Hmmmm.
Hopefully the next blog post will be of Baby Rachel! Hopefully!

Salt Lake City Temple

Last Sunday Kyle challenged Casey to draw a picture
of the Salt Lake Temple. He did just that. I think
it turned out so good!

37 weeks

How far along? 37 Weeks! Full Term!

Total weight gain/loss: 30 lbs!! I tend to gain 32-34 lbs. Hoping I'll lose all of it plus more after I have the baby like with all of my other kids.
Maternity clothes? Yes! Leggings and sweats are mostly what I wear now.
  Stretch marks? Nope.
Best moment this week: Packing the hospital bag!
Miss Anything? I miss being able to lay on my stomach and having my normal body.
Movement: She moves every other hour.
Food cravings: nothing now.
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope.
Have you started to show yet: I have a very big baby bump as you can tell! Also Casey tells me a lot that I'm really big. I guess that means it's time to have her!
Gender: GIRL!
Labor Signs: Braxton hicks are super strong!
Belly Button in or out? The belly button is definetly out now!
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Feeling Anxious to have her. We can't wait to see the baby. The kids are always talking about her!
Looking forward to: Having her

Back Home

Now that were home from our trip I've been using this sweet irobot vacuum that my mom gave us!
I absolutly LOVE this vacuum!

The kids have been busy playing...
I had to mow our backyard because the grass was at least 5 inches long.
Doesn't it look nice now?!
All the kids got sick. You might think it would be horrible for
me to take care of 3 sick kids but it actually was easy and relaxing.
All they wanted to do was sleep and watch star wars.
The girls went back to saluting and playing with Daddys hats.

We also got a new queen size bed!
Super comfy and the kids love jumping on it!
Not to mention I would just lay on it all day if I could!

Christmas

This Christmas was wonderful!
We went to a lot of work partys and a church party right before we headed to Utah for Christmas.
It was so much fun being in Utah for 2 weeks, which went by so quickly.
Highlights of our Utah trip include
*Eating at our favorite Korean restaurant 3 times.
*Playing in the snow.
*Going to our favorite Dentist to get our teeth checked.
*Getting haircuts by our fabulous hair-stylist Susie!
*Walking around Temple Square
*taking the train to Salt Lake
*Eating out at Red Robbin with the family
*Spending time with family
*Finding out since we're active duty military we don't have
to renew our driver licenses until we get out of the military! Wahoo!
 *Dance
